New York is home to many different people. They come from all over the world to settle in cramped rooming houses and Midtown NYC luxury apartments. For many, this exciting city is the home of everything new and exciting. It is the Big Apple. It is the home of the New York Yankees. It boasts the famed shops of Fifth Avenue and Madison. It is also where money is made, accumulated and lost on Wall Street.

Financial Institutions

New York is home to the center of the financial world – Wall Street. Along its length, you can see the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Federal Hall National Memorial.

  • NYSE: The NYSE was founded in 1792. In the on-site Interactive Educational Center, you receive an introduction to what actually goes on at the NYSE. For a closer look at the real thing, you can go up into the gallery which overlooks the trading floor.
  • The Bull: This iconic symbol sits in Bowling Green Park just a few blocks from Wall Street and has its first appearance in 1989 in front of the NYSE as a gift from sculptor Arturo DiModica. Its relationship to the NYSE is often noted.
  • Morgan Guaranty and Trust Company: Sitting across for the Stock Exchange is a building which is not the scene of overt frenetic action. It was the home of the notorious 19th century Robber Baron JP Morgan. He was a major investor, financier and industrialist.
  • Federal Hall National Memorial: Built in 1842, this lovely classical building acted first as the United States Custom House. It later housed a sub-treasury.
  • Regent Wall Street Hotel: The oldest sections of this structure dates from 1836. This Revival has been the Merchants’ Exchange as well as the Customs House (1907).in 1899, it was sold to City Bank but, in 2000, it was renovated into the luxurious Regent Wall Street Hotel.

Midtown NYC, Luxury Apartments and the Financial District

Midtown NYC is home to many luxury apartments. Some who live there have been involved in the financial district in Lower Manhattan. The NYCSE is the center but the financial district is where many financial institutions choose to operate at the very least a branch office. From the older neoclassical structures to modern skyscrapers, each building has become a statement on the power and influence of money. The individuals who live in Midtown NYC luxury apartments understand this and work well within the stressful but often exhilarating atmosphere that abounds in the district.
