Working with patients in a dental office is not an easy task. Trying to find ways to make equipment more patient-friendly and to provide a superior, comfortable and safe role in patient dental treatment is an ongoing process for most dental component companies.

A standard piece of equipment in any dental office is the dental saliva ejector. This is a standard piece of equipment that is used to suction and removes excessive saliva from a patient’s mouth during preventative procedures. These types of procedures tend to cause less saliva production, so there is less need for the high-volume evacuator tips or HVE tips used during more restorative and corrective types of procedures.

The dental saliva ejector unit has a plastic tip that is used to safely suction the saliva from the patient’s mouth. These tubes can be flexible to allow for easy configuration to the required shape. This not only is easier for staff, but it is also easier for patients as well.

New Considerations

With new options in the design of the complete dental saliva ejector system including the adaptor and the straw or tip, the dentist or dental hygienist has greater control. This includes control for positioning the tip in the desired location in the patient’s mouth, as well as greater control over the suction.

The suction level is controlled through the adaptor, with precision parts and components in the levers to allow for precision changes in the level of suction. This is very different than in some systems where the operator has limited ability for precision control of the suction levels.

New materials, including plastics and aluminum, which meet all requirements for sanitary cleaning after use. As cleaning is typically done by the use of autoclaves, all materials selected have to be designed to stand up to high temperatures and moisture, making anodized aluminum an ideal choice.
