Influenza, more commonly called just “the flu” is a viral infection. The symptoms are many and varied and include aches and pains, sore muscles, headache, sore throat, dizziness, vomiting and more. These are the traditional symptoms of flu but having one or more of them does not mean that you have the flue, to confirm whether or not flu is present, the individual needs to see his doctor and have a Quidel influenza test.

The flu virus is spread by airborne and contact transmission; when a person suffering from the flu sneezes or coughs it is easy to pass on the infection. Even using the telephone can spread the flu from one person to another. Unless the person has had a Quidel influenza test he or she may not be aware they are carrying the disease and pass it on to others without realizing it.

The flu is not curable but the symptoms may be moderated or the person may avoid catching it if vaccinated early enough. The flu has a tendency to pray on the weakest; young children, the elderly and pregnant woman in particular are susceptible and it is highly recommended that this sector of society be vaccinated.

Once it has been confirmed that the person actually has the flu, the ill individual should try to stay away from others as much as possible, they should be aware that covering the mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing is a must and washing of the hands is also recommended. Because it is such an easy virus to pass on, the person suffering from the flu should stay home from work or school. It may be hard at the office to work without the individual but the absence of one is much better than infecting an entire department. It is easy to pass on the virus no matter how much precaution is taken; the best solution is to stay out of contact with others.

While you have the virus, drink plenty of water, at least eight glasses a day, eat fruits and vegetables, rest and stay away from alcohol and cigarettes as these vices can lower a person’s immunity. If the symptoms persist the sufferer should see the doctor. For more information, visit the website Expressmedicalsupplies.com.
