You’ve heard the phrase “No pain, no gain”? Well, it’s a lie. Fitness works best when it flows, becoming a natural part of your lifestyle. If you’re suffering and hate working out, it’s just not going to be as effective. Here’s some great advice on how to make your exercise time easier and more effective, courtesy of the good people at Max Challenge in Pine Brook, NJ.
1. Do fun exercises
While there are a time and place for grueling exercises, most people respond better when they exercise in the context of fun. There are a lot of great classes that can make exercise fun – you’ll feel great both mentally and physically.
2. Set goals you can achieve
If you think in terms of losing large amounts of weight, those goals will seem impossible. But if you set small goals, and lots of them, so that you are achieving a new goal every other week or so, you’ll find exercise is that much easier. Make a game out of it, and start racking up the Ws. What’s more fun than that?
3. Set a Routine, and Stick to It
If you’re always fighting to find time to go for workout, your exercise will be less effective. If you set a specific routine, it will be easier to stick to, and you’ll see better results. Appointments for classes, or with trainers, are an effective way that a lot of people build a reliable routine.
4. Go During Off Hours
We know this isn’t always possible, but when it’s quieter it’s easier to do the exercises you want. If it’s not possible to come in during the quieter times, embrace the crowds and just be flexible with what workout you’re doing on a given day.
The more little tricks you incorporate to make your workouts easier, the better off you’ll be, because you’re more likely to stick to workouts that are hassle-free. With a consistent schedule and meaningful goals, you’ll find that getting in to the right exercise rhythm is fun and easy.
