Material
The most common materials used for slab gate valves are cast iron, ductile iron, carbon steel, and stainless steel. Depending on the application, one type of material may be better suited than another. If you are handling highly corrosive fluids, then you will want to choose a slab gate valve made from stainless steel or another corrosion-resistant material.
Size
Slab gate valves are available in a wide range of sizes, from 2″ up to 60″. The size you need will depend on the application. If you are using the valve for a small pipeline, then you will not need a large valve. Conversely, if you are using the valve for a large pipeline or industrial application, then you will need a larger slab gate valve.
Pressure Rating
Slab gate valves are also available in different pressure ratings. The most common ratings are 150# and 300#, but there are also higher-pressure rated valves available. Again, the pressure rating you need will depend on the application. If you are using the valve in a low-pressure system, then a 150# rated valve will suffice. However, if you are using the valve in a high-pressure system, then you will need a 300# or higher-rated slab gate valve.
