When preparing for a vacation, business trip or maybe just a family occasion, you need to know how to plan every part of your trip so that you’re not left stranded somewhere. It’s very important to know every aspect of your trip, so that if there are any service’s which you’ll need to book in advance, you should, especially if you’re traveling domestically. Lots of people assume that because they are traveling domestically they don’t need to take it as seriously as flying international. This however, is wrong, and flying domestically is one of these service’s where booking in advance is often key. Just turning up at an airport and asking for a ticket could result in paying over the top of the market rate and/or not being able to fly when you want to, or possibly even at all. You need to know all about booking domestic flights, how, when, who to speak with and how to get better prices.
Step 1: Know Which Airport You Need
When booking domestic flights, it may seem obvious to fly directly to the region you need to visit, but do your own research, and use a map. Check where you need to go and which airport is actually near it. It may surprise you, but sometimes smaller, unknown airports are located a lot closer to your destination then a major one.
Step 2: Know When You Are Going to Travel
Planning your travel in advance can save you a lot of money on domestic flights. Try booking your flights at least 3 months in advance. Studies have shown that 3 months in advance is the best time to book your domestic flight to get the cheapest price. It may not vary that much but every bit of money helps. Don’t worry if you only found out a short time before you leave. Normally prices do not spike too much until a few days before the flight.
Step 3: Have Your Documents Ready
Flying domestically is in no way the same as flying internationally, as you do not have to go through the strenuous passport and security checks at both sides of the flight. However, you should be prepared for any travel problem. You don’t want to miss your flight because you can’t prove you’re the person who booked the ticket. Have a valid form of ID with you, preferably a passport, this way you can confidently go through every part of the flight knowing that you have all necessary documents on you.
