Most people don’t know what a penthouse is though most people have heard of them. Penthouses are usually an entire floor of a condominium at the very top of the condo. The below floors are usually broken up into two or even three condos, though there are some full-floor condominiums on lower floors. The biggest difference between Upper West Side penthouses for sale and condos is the view, though there are other differences.
Views
The biggest reason that people want to purchase penthouses that are for sale is that the view is spectacular and different than with any other living space in the building. Most people prefer to have a penthouse on the Upper West Side as it provides a panoramic view of the Manhattan area inside and outside.
Most penthouses for sale offer outdoor decks to the owner or renter of the penthouse so that they have even more room to relax. This is not a common area of the condo, so no other residents will get to use the roof deck.
You will also have windows in almost every room of the home because it is situated at the top of the condo. Most people either get a westerly or easterly view, but you will have natural light in all rooms during the day and spectacular views in every room at night.
Most Upper West Side penthouses will offer balconies at each window area, so that you can step outside to take some fresh air whenever you want.
Amenities
The amenities in a penthouse for sale are generally the same as with the rest of the condominium, which can include fitness centers, concierge, doormen, parking and more. However, some condos offer more perks, which can include a personal elevator, outdoor pool and more.
The kitchen of the penthouse is usually done in the same way as the rest of the condos, but will typically offer a different floor plan. However, countertops, cabinets and backsplashes will usually be in the same materials.
Most Upper West Side penthouses for sale will also provide a fireplace in the penthouse living room, which is perfect for mood lighting and warmth.
In order to decide if an Upper West Side penthouse is for you, you should visit with condos in that neighborhood and ask to view open penthouses to get an idea of your options.
