A Bright Employment Outlook for Those Who Complete EMT Training
If you are interested in becoming an emergency medical technician (EMT) and perhaps advancing to the position of paramedic one day, focusing on employers that provide training is advantageous. New Jersey EMT training is available from certain employers in the area.
Employment Outlook for EMTs
The employment outlook for EMTs is bright, with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicting fast job growth in this occupation at least through 2028. Nearly 20,000 new EMT jobs will likely be added nationwide during that time.
Organizations also will need to replace workers who retire or decide to pursue a different occupation. With so many workers in the baby boomer generation reaching retirement age or retiring early, large numbers of openings are expected.
Another factor is that the country’s population continues to increase. This means more work for nearly all healthcare-related occupations.
Wage and Benefits Expectations
The average hourly wage for EMTs as of 2018 was about $18, according to the Bureau. Most workers can expect to receive full benefits packages with health insurance, paid vacations, and paid holidays after completing New Jersey EMT training and being hired for a full-time position.
Employment Opportunities
Most EMTs work for ambulatory health care services, local governments, and hospitals. Although New Jersey is small in size, a significantly large number of EMTs are employed here compared with most other states, due to population density.
