9-Nor-9?-hydroxy-hexahydro cannabinol, or HHC for short, is a synthetic form of THC, closely related to Delta-9 THC. It’s made through the process of hydrogenation, which involves inserting hydrogen atoms into THC molecules. This is similar to the process that’s used to turn liquid vegetable oil into margarine.
HHC products can be made with any strain of cannabis. Good HHC Sativa strains will have the invigorating effect of Sativa, and HHC Indica strains will be more relaxing. For example, an HHC Sativa strain made from Sour Pebbles will have a very similar effect as smoking Sour Pebbles bud.
While the effect is similar to natural THC, HHC is an entirely different compound. THC and HHC interact with the body in fundamentally different ways. Also, HHC is a synthetically derived THC-like compound, not a natural botanical like marijuana.
A technical loophole in the 2018 Farm Bill allows synthetic THC, such as HHC, to be sold since it’s not specifically listed as a controlled substance. So, you can find HHC vape cartridges, gummies, concentrates, in HHC Sativa strains, as well as Indica and Hybrid strains.
However, while HHC products are technically legal in the United States, they may not be legal in your state. If your state has not legalized recreational marijuana, there is a chance that HHC is also illegal.
