If you’re in the world of business, you are always looking for some way to lower your overhead costs and make your business more profitable. Whether you have a small business in your garage or a multinational with hundreds of shareholders, your goal is to make yourself more profitable. You can do this in two basic ways: cut spending and increase revenue. Increasing revenue requires some innovative strategies of marketing, brand optimization, and market analytics. Sometimes, you just can’t increase your revenue. If you’re a manufacturer of space heaters, the summer is just going to be a slow season for you; there’s not much you can do about that. So, since you can’t always increase revenue, your other option is to reduce spending. You can reduce spending in a lot of different ways. You can reduce your number of employees, you can reduce your discretionary expenditures, or you can reduce your other expenditures.

Delivery

If you are a company that manufactures a product, you probably have it delivered to your retailers, or you have a distribution center that comes and picks it up. You probably do not have a company that does that for free. So, you are probably paying the distribution company to collect your product that they then sell for a profit, or you are paying a delivery company to take it to stores. If you want to cut out some lost revenue, then you want to find ways to streamline your process and control as much as possible. If you want to take over delivery yourself, you can purchase used box trucks. You will be able to deliver the product for a lower price than a third-party system since you will be delivering your own product. Since your business already has the infrastructure set up, you should be able to purchase used box trucks and move them into your business. You might need to hire a few people to drive the trucks, but you won’t be paying a third party that’s trying to make a profit. Once you take someone else’s profits out of the equation, you end up with much lower shipping and handling costs.

Advertising

Box trucks are pretty great advertisements; that’s why you see the brand name of the rental company all over the truck. They’re large flat surfaces that roll around the highways; in effect, they’re moving billboards. So, in addition to being a great opportunity for saving money on delivery, you might be able to increase your revenue. If you brand your box truck well, you should be able to draw in some business that might not have known you were around. They have a lot of potential to enhance your business. You simply need to keep your mind open and explore the options.
