If you have ever needed to ship something, you likely had to go to their store-front or another store that collected items for the courier. However, this can be time-consuming, and many people don’t need to add another to-do to their long lists. Therefore, some couriers offer door to door air freight service, meaning that your items are picked up at your door and delivered directly to the door of the recipient.

Many companies will deliver to the doors of the recipients but require you to either purchase online and have it shipped from the store or charge you to come to the home. However, finding a courier that will do door to door pickups and deliveries for free are becoming more and more popular.

Air versus Ocean Freight

Most people realize that air shipping is a lot quicker than ocean shipping and for most, it will work well. However, there are certain times where air freight isn’t possible, especially if you are shipping dangerous goods or bulky items.

If you find that an air freight service isn’t possible for the items you require, it is likely because you have hazardous or dangerous goods, such as aerosols, lighters, liquids and others. You may choose to visit with other couriers to find out about their service options because some couriers simply don’t prefer to ship items by air.

International Air Freight

If you want to ship internationally or even from one city to another, you will likely find that door to door service options make your life slightly easier. Post offices will also handle door to door shipping as they can take outgoing mail from your box and place mail inside. However, they won’t do international shipping and typically require that the items be small enough to fit inside the mailbox while international couriers can handle large, small or medium-sized items.

Other services may also be included or for a small fee, such as allowing the courier to pack the items properly for the trip, handling customs fees and import taxes and more. When considering a courier, ensure that you know the full cost of everything, as some couriers will charge extra for door-to-door shipping and packaging. You may also want to pay close attention to items that are marked base or extra, because base means that the cost is included in the prices mentioned and extra means that there will be an extra charge.
