Contact lenses have become more popular compared to glasses. As a result, they are easily available in an Eye Center. People can completely mask their eye problems, by wearing contact lenses. However, there are a few concerns that most people face with these lenses. Outlined below are some of the important facts about contact lenses.

What is the correct way to wear contact lenses?

Wearing contact lenses can be tricky. Place the contact lens on your finger to form a cup. Hold the lens directly in front of your eye. Look inside the cup rather than outside it. If your lenses have a laser marking, it should be easier to identify the inside and the outside part. Wearing a lens inside out can be very uncomfortable but it does not cause any damage to the eye.

Safety precautions you should take before applying your contact lenses

Wash your hands thoroughly but do not use oily soaps or scented detergents that will attach to the surface of the lens.

1. Clean and disinfect the storage cases for the contact lenses as often as possible.
2. Do not use saliva or place the lenses in your mouth to wet them.
3. Regularly replace your contact lenses according to the instructions of your optician.
4. Discard any old contact lens solution and always use fresh solution every time you wear your contact lenses.

Wearing Eye Makeup

Before applying your makeup, put in the contact lenses first. Make sure your make-up is water-based and non-allergenic. When applying powder makeup, always keep your eyes closed to prevent any transfer of particles to the contact lenses. Do not use eyeliner between your eye and lashes since it might tamper with the lenses. When removing your makeup, thoroughly wash your hands. Remove the contact lenses first then use your makeup remover. To prevent any infection to your eyes, always replace your eye makeup often and never use old eye makeup. Do not share your makeup with anyone.

Since contact lenses are in complete contact with the eye, make sure your fingernails are short while removing them. You can avoid grazing your eye with short nails. Also, avoid rubbing your eye when the contacts are in place to prevent damage.
